Antarctic teacher goes to top of the class

A teacher who travelled south with the Australian Antarctic Division has won a national education award.
Jane Dobson was presented with the Australian Award for Teaching Excellence by a Beginning Teacher by Federal Education Minister Julia Gillard.
The Awards recognise and celebrate the pivotal role teachers play in student engagement and achievement.
Ms Dobson currently teaches at Claremont College and travelled to Antarctica in 2007 as part of the Teachers Experiencing Antarctica project.
She travelled on the Marine Science voyage which focused on the Sea Ice Physics and Ecosystem experiment (SIPEX).
Ms Dobson completed a daily blog, interviews and online education packages to inform students and teachers about the Antarctic Division's scientific research.
